Amy’s mother kept a collection of buttons in a jar. As a child, Amy was always fascinated by these buttons and spent many hours sorting them by size, color, and personal preference. As an adult, she spent many hours perusing trimming stores in the NYC Garment Center and admiring the vast array of buttons, which seemed to come in every possible color and shape.
Amy enjoys finding appealing color combinations using bright acrylic paints. She also loves the simple design of a button and thought it would be the perfect subject to satisfy her pop art sensibilities. This collection of button paintings was created in 2016.
Amy currently manages a mental health program in Oakland serving youth in Foster Care. She has taken several art classes in San Francisco, Oakland and Pleasanton and finds that doing art is a great way to add balance in her life. Amy is currently working out of the Downtown Art Studio in Livermore, CA. You can reach her at: amyg.artstudio@gmail.com
