Bathroom Decor

If you watch HGTV, you know that having a “spa like” or “retreat” bathroom is all the rage. Some of us are fortunate enough to have the space and money to transform this workhorse of a room into a place of bliss. But even if you have a tiny bathroom and a small budget, there are many things you can do to make it more spa-like in atmosphere. The key is accessories!

May people start with a theme to help set the tone, color and accessories that complement this very functional room.  The beach theme is very common because it definitely brings up those relaxation vibes. There are many other themes to choose from such as: glam, tropical, travel and shabby chic. Select a look or theme that speaks to you about your ideal retreat space.

Wall Art

There’s no reason to stare at barren walls when you use your bathroom. For wall accents, the main thing you need to consider is its durability to moisture. Treated canvas prints are water resistant and can be affordable. They will hold up nicely to all of those steamy showers.

Many retailers like Target and Pier 1 have a nice selection of mass produced artwork. You can go to these stores and really see how they look and gauge their size. There are also print on demand websites such as Redbubble and Imagekind where you can find unique products designed by artists.  At these sites, simply type in your theme and literally, you’ll have hundreds of options to choose from. Many of these images come in a wide range of sizes and finishes, so you get to pick what you like in the perfect size for your bathroom.

Go for oversized proportions or unusual off beat focus for the best visual impact. For example, if you are doing a Paris theme, instead of just having the full iconic Eiffel Tower image, consider a super close up, unique angle or cropped image of this glorious structure.

When thinking of bathroom decorating ideas for art, think beyond a canvas print. A wall gallery of favorite objects like starfish or baskets can be another way to decorate your bathroom walls. Mix the two up, some art and some object together. Have fun with the possibilities and enjoy your spa like space!!
