Working on my mini canvases

File_001 (18)

I spent a few hours in the studio this weekend working on these ArtAments. The left one is my tribute to Foothill Falcons Marching Band. The center one is a bit of nostalgia for those old bulb stringed lights. The right one is another snowman wearing their Marching Don’s spirit ware. I like his carefree expression. What’s got you feeling happy or joyous these days?

I am painting one of the banners that will be auctioned off at the Livermore ArtWalk. Each color of the rainbow will be represented plus the addition of a neon orange color. I am on an orange kick, so I will see how that looks. This is the largest canvas that I’ve ever worked on. It’s fun so far!

Hope everyone is having a joyful Sunday!

Fig Love

File_000 (25)

I saw figs in Trader Joe’s this weekend and just had to get them. Luckily, I am the only one in my home who loves this kick ass fruit. (all for me!) As I painted them, I was struck by the many subtle colors and tones in there. I’ll keep doing research on these yummy subjects – ah, the sacrifices of an artist!

Holy Guacamole!

I guess that I am jumping on the avocado bandwagon. This is a 6×6 acrylic painting that would look perfect in the kitchen or any space you want to be reminded of this perfect food item! My love affair with the avocado started shortly after I arrived in California, some 30 years ago. What’s not to love? Creamy, dreamy texture; Buttery, grassy taste, and the best of all, its color – chartreuse. I’m a sucker for chartreuse!

Finishing touches…

I was just in the studio this Friday morning. It feels great to be home after 1 1/2 weeks in New York. We had an amazing time in Buffalo and NYC. It’s nice to have the day to do as I wish.

This safety pin is part of my “sewing” series and it was also part of my “what the fuck is happening to our County series?!”  People were wearing safety pins to let others know that you are a safe being (to combat the increase in hate crimes since the election). Doing art, reading, and getting a good work out helps me deal with the ugliness in the world.
