I am in the homestretch on this banner! Overall, I am happy with its progress. The light blue button was not working for me so I decided to work on that one today. I thought that I was adding an iridescent white to the party, but I actually added Interference Green. I am so pleased with this result. Yay, a happy mistake – my favorite! I have to finish up the neon orange and teal blue buttons and then decide if I need to add one more small one in the bottom left side (maybe a gray/silver colored one?).

Finishing touches…
I was just in the studio this Friday morning. It feels great to be home after 1 1/2 weeks in New York. We had an amazing time in Buffalo and NYC. It’s nice to have the day to do as I wish.
This safety pin is part of my “sewing” series and it was also part of my “what the fuck is happening to our County series?!” People were wearing safety pins to let others know that you are a safe being (to combat the increase in hate crimes since the election). Doing art, reading, and getting a good work out helps me deal with the ugliness in the world.
How much is that dress form in the window?
I had a fun day celebrating Father’s Day with my hubby and darling daughter. We also ran into a friend unexpectedly. This was not the first time that we’ve run into this friend in random parts of California!
We spent the day in Gold County on an excessively hot day. Either most of the cute antique shops did not have a/c or the a/c they had could not keep up with the 100 degree temps. With that, we still had a lovely day with hubby proclaiming that this was the “best” father’s day.
I want to do some more sewing themed art and was looking for some inspiration. This dress form was calling me…..
Next Adventure
ArtWalk 2016 is now a thing of the past. It was fun and I could see myself doing more art fairs in the future. Yes, I did sell some of my art and got lots of nice, encouraging feedback. I enjoyed hearing people reminisce about loved ones who sewed. I also discovered that there are many fellow button lovers out there! It was also great to have some of my dear friends visit my booth.
Now, I am going to focus on getting my Etsy shop up to speed. Today, I spent some time photographing some of my artwork on a wall in my home. As you can see, I had a lot of help with my kitty assistants. This is why I have to work in a studio!

3 Heart Pins

3 Heart Pins – 12 x 12 acrylic painting
Well, here’s the next painting in my sewing series. I just love these heart pins. What a sweet way to add your love to a sewing project!
I chose red, blue and yellow as a tribute to the primary colors. They are the root to all other hues.
Work in progress
“Pin Cushion” is my latest painting. It’s part of my sewing themed collection.
One of my studio mates suggested that I make it 3D by hammering in pins. I’m kinda tempted to do this. What a great idea! I think it will look cool – plus I can avoid some more tiny bush work! I’m going to test out the technique on a different canvas. If it goes smoothly, I’ll do it on this one. Stay tuned!
Another Sewing Themed Painting
Here’s another sewing themed painting, “Dress Form” – it’s a 12 x 12 acrylic painting on canvas. I’ll be adding it to my Etsy store shortly.
I searched for dress form images and found one that I used as a reference for this painting. I discovered that it was considered a plus sized dress form. I’d say this is just human sized. Plain and simple.
A Stitch in Time
I’ve been busy in my studio working on these acrylic paintings and I’m just loving the sewing theme. These are all 12×12 canvases. Soon, they will be available for purchase. I enjoy working on this size and shape of canvas; it gives the item an up-close and intimate feel. It also helps me to limit my color choices, so that I can play around with the combinations that I just love.
