“Pin Cushion” is my latest painting. It’s part of my sewing themed collection.
One of my studio mates suggested that I make it 3D by hammering in pins. I’m kinda tempted to do this. What a great idea! I think it will look cool – plus I can avoid some more tiny bush work! I’m going to test out the technique on a different canvas. If it goes smoothly, I’ll do it on this one. Stay tuned!
I am a sucker for square cards and music puns! Yes, square cards require extra postage to mail, but they are fun to give and receive.
No, I’m not a fan of Huey Lewis and the News, but darn, that’s one catchy line in a song! It was running in my head while I assembled these cards. So, it made sense for me to use that song to launch my square cards. That song came out right about when I moved to San Francisco. It was a time of great hope – when you could live in the city while working at a nonprofit! Those were some fun times. These are fun cards!

I am planning on expanding my button theme to include various sewing notions. I’m going to explore the many wonders of thimbles, pin cushions, measuring tape and spools of thread in all sorts of colors. Yay, now I have another reason to get over to Britex for inspiration and possible source material.
This painting is 12×12 acrylic. Be on the lookout for my Etsy shop.
