Finishing touches…

I was just in the studio this Friday morning. It feels great to be home after 1 1/2 weeks in New York. We had an amazing time in Buffalo and NYC. It’s nice to have the day to do as I wish.

This safety pin is part of my “sewing” series and it was also part of my “what the fuck is happening to our County series?!”  People were wearing safety pins to let others know that you are a safe being (to combat the increase in hate crimes since the election). Doing art, reading, and getting a good work out helps me deal with the ugliness in the world.

Giving the studio a test run

I gave the new studio space a “test run” this morning. I found the thermostat (much needed on this hot morning), figured the lighting (switches are in the utility closet, now new art studio space), and somewhat got use to a children’s piano recital happening in the next room over. With all that, I was mostly pleased with the experience. I tripped or bumped into some of my stuff while I work (I move around a good deal). Still need to get the wifi password and find an electrical outlet near my space. I guess it’s all in time.

Safety pin

I did a quick sketch this morning. Using a safety pin was on my “to do list” as part of my sewing theme. But this is different. This is necessary for me to communicate – I am a person who is in solidarity with those who have less privilege in our society. I am also someone who understands my own sense of privilege. Please know that I am a safe person who will stand up to injustice to the best of my ability.
