We will be discussing “The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane” – by Lisa See. I really enjoyed this book – it really captures the life of Akah minority in China and how their way of life changed so quickly during the Revolution era. I recommend this book!

Art done in Procreate – I am learning more each day how to use this amazing art software. I have had MANY duds and I know that this is part of the process. I am happy with how this one came out. Source Image by Tess Pixy256 from Pixabay
Hummingbirds bring me such joy. For a little bird, they are surprisingly loud. I love when they stop for a few sips in my hummingbird feeder. It gives me a brief moment of joy. I can only imagine the impact of our poor air quality on their systems.
More playing with Procreate! I just uploaded some new brushes and I cannot wait to give them a try. This Seymour painting was done with the original set. Although there’s a ton of brushes with the app purchase, I found that many are too specialized. I would like to move to a more illustration look. More exploring!
More experimenting in Procreate. I am totally having fun with this app. My daughter just got herself a pair of rollerskates. I have the song “Brand New Key” stuck in my head. I LOVED that song back in the day. I hummed and sang that song when I put on my strap-on skates. I later advanced to real quads in a roller-rink. Lots of fun memories!
Spent the weekend avoiding things like cleaning, finishing up my taxes and other non-enjoyable ventures. Instead, I watched a few Procreate videos to try to learn how to use this awesome app. Making circles! Layers! Gaussian Blur!! My mind is officially blown! If you have any Procreate tips, please feel free to share!
