busy little bee

I took the day off from work and boy did I need that! I did not end up doing all (or most) of the things on my to-do list. Guess I just needed to chill.

I love bees – my morning ritual is to watch them and attempt to take photos of them. Most end up blurry – so I ended up using an image from Pixabay. Pixabay is a fun place to get inspired – tons of beautiful images there. Image by Anrita1705 from Pixabay

Update

How are you all doing? I want to extend my well wishes and best thought to everyone as we deal with this new normal. I am working from home and doing my best to stay calm and hopeful.

I thought that being home would give me the energy to do my artwork morning, noon and night. Maybe it is because I am still operating in survival mode, grief, uncertainty, anxiety, what have you…I am just having a hard time focusing on art. It is the activity that grounds me, but I have to admit, I am just not fully there yet.

It is no surprise that the Open Studios event has been either canceled or postponed – we are still waiting to hear what is next. It seems frivolous to mourn such losses – an art show, an open studio, my daughter’s prom, perhaps – upcoming graduation ceremonies. It seems such a small inconvenience compared to those losing a loved one or struggling to care for those sick with this disease.

Yet, I do know that these are my experiences of loss. So, here are the things that I am doing to have healthy management of this new norm – less news watching; unfollowing people to spread misinformation, more connection to those I love and respect. What are you doing to take care of yourself?

Are your going to Alameda County Fair?

It was a fun afternoon at the Alameda County Fair – my daughter played bari sax at the horse race stadium with her middle school band. It was such a wonderful year of music at her middle school – I feel so fortunate that we are part of the music community.

Today was a perfectly beautiful day – not too hot! We headed over to the adult art area and found my painting on display. I don’t know if I will ever get use to this experience of seeing my art in some place other than my studio or home.

Overall, it was a beautiful day!

Moving on up…

I am mostly set up in my new art studio. We had to move out of the Downtown Studio space so that the city can develop on that prime location space. Now, I am in this multi-use facility called the Bothwell. I am hoping that I set it up for my best creative possibilities to emerge. Here’s to the possibilities!
